Working with Asian American Communities: Cultural Competency In Practice

What is cultural competency and why does it matter in working with Asian American communities?

This interactive workshop will:
  • Explore the complexity and diversity of the Asian populations in California and San Francisco
  • Explain the standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS)
  • Provide tools and techniques for providing more culturally appropriate care
  • Discuss what the UCSFMC is doing to promote cultural competency in our patient care
  • This program is approved for 6.0 hours of continuing education units for RNs approved by the CA Board of Registered Nursing, and for 6.0 continuing education units for Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEPs), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) by the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
