UCSF新生華埠捐口罩 專家呼籲打流感疫苗

   一群舊金山加大(UCSF)的醫學院新生,特別來到舊金山華埠社區捐口罩。同時UCSF專家也呼籲民眾在流感季節時要打疫苗。
   本次活動由UCSF亞裔健康研究院(Asian Health Institute)組織舉行,受惠的機構包括新僑服務中心等。
   研究院主任劉雪艶(Diana Lau)表示,本次捐贈的布口罩是由香港的義工用愛心精製和空運到舊金山。另外,善心人士關一陽女士亦捐出了同樣數量的日本制造的50片一盒裝的濾芯,以配合這次的派發的布口罩使用。
   劉雪艶表示,戴口罩具有三個相似於疫苗的功能:減少感染,降低感染後的嚴重程度,和減少傳播。她也說,雖然口罩數量不多,但是布料口罩在用高溫熱水清洗之後可以達到消毒的作用、重複使用,這樣子就能減少一次性口罩使用,減少到處亂扔的現象,更加環保。
   雖然疫情最近在加州有放緩跡象,但劉雪艶提醒大家不要掉以輕心。因為秋冬是流感季節,同時新冠肺炎亦有可能再次爆發,所以大家應該注意健康,特別是老人、小孩及低免疫力人士。她也鼓勵大家在流感季節要打流感疫苗。
   「其實每個人都應該盡自己一分努力,在外出時佩戴口罩及盡快接種流感疫苗。保護自己免受感染,可減輕前線醫護人員及醫院的負擔。」劉雪艶說。
   民眾若想索取布口罩,請致電新僑服務中心(電話:415-421-2111)登記,參加即將舉辦的口罩派發活動。登記人士將獲發布口罩一個及50片裝濾芯一盒,因於數量有限,派完即止。
