With roughly 156 million Americans fully vaccinated for COVID-19, physicians are seeing signs of relief on the horizon. That relief can't come soon enough. Many patients and healthcare workers have experienced a variety of symptoms during this CoVID pandemic, including but not limited to fatigue, fears, burnout, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Left untreated, burnout could cause more cases of depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use, and suicidal thoughts in our profession. We must address the elephant in the room -- in our practices, clinics, and hospitals. It's time to come together and give ourselves permission to talk -- and to act -- without stigma, so these feelings of struggle and inadequacy in handling patients' mental health and CoVID issues don't drive more of our patients as well as colleagues into a mental health emergency.

Part 2 presents racist and depression issues aggravated by CoVID Speakers include Dr. Russell M. Jeung of the Asian American Studies Department, SFSU and co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate, and psychiatric experts Drs. Descartes Li and Tammy Duong of UCSF. Dr. Don Ng, Chair of the UCSF Asian Faculty Group, will be the host for this session.

Please join us on November 19, 2021, at the 11th virtual Annual Asian Health Symposium Roundtable from noon - 1:30 pm. No pre-registration is required. Please note that this Symposium is dedicated to our healthcare colleagues, but the public is welcome to join us. It will be in English only and may contain some technical medical terms for the professional audience.
